2024 Annual Summary#
This year has been quite busy for me. However, now I have time to 整理整理 my experiences from this year.
Work#
The first job after graduation was at a small company, marking my first complete year of work after graduation. By the end of 2024, it came to a close.
Most of this year was occupied by work, and I felt it was the year when my personal energy was at its lowest. Throughout this year, I truly encountered the real workplace and experienced various things within it. The workplace turned out to be much more absurd than what is discussed online (limited to my experience at this company). At the end of 2024, I resigned. After leaving, I felt much more relaxed.
For employees, whether a company is suitable for long-term stay should be considered comprehensively, taking into account the company atmosphere, the overall quality of leadership, employee management methods, salary and benefits, and many other aspects. These aspects are all interconnected, and even a small change can affect everything.
After this year, I realized that for workers, personal time is the most precious. Without personal time, it means losing the opportunity for development, becoming like fish on a chopping board. Summarizing this year's workplace experience, in the future, when choosing a company, it is important to clearly delineate the boundaries between work and life and consider multiple aspects comprehensively. The boundaries between colleagues should be clearly defined; one should not be overly enthusiastic and should focus on their own responsibilities.
This year, my understanding and learning of technology have greatly improved. I also gained new insights and understanding of the business. I have a clearer understanding of the processes and logic of work projects. In the future, I need to pay attention to career development directions and industry trends. I should also keep an eye on business and management.
Life#
Diet and Health#
This year, I often indulged in eating and drinking at night, which led to a weight gain of 20 pounds in the first half of the year. In the second half, I started paying attention to my diet and intermittently exercised, so my weight did not increase further. Coupled with frequent late nights, my dark circles became quite noticeable. Now I plan to take advantage of this gap to readjust my diet and schedule, and lose some weight. Let's go!!! (In fact, work is also a major influencing factor, so it’s important to distinguish between work and life.)
Travel and Entertainment#
Although this year was quite busy, I traveled more than last year. One should experience the beautiful landscapes of our country more and feel the colorful world.
In April, I took my younger siblings to see Mr. Hayao Miyazaki's "What Kind of Life Do You Want to Live?" Initially, it was the movie title that attracted me. Finding the meaning of one's life is something that everyone goes through during their adolescence, leading to a period of confusion. I thought of taking them to see it, hoping they could gain something from it. The feeling this movie gave me was like an old man slowly recounting his life, encouraging the younger generation to always maintain a passionate heart towards life. There is only one true heroism in the world, which is to love life even after seeing the truth of it.
After that, I experienced rafting for the first time in my life, which felt wonderful and was a great way to relax.
This year, I climbed Mount Tai and Laojun Mountain.
The plan for climbing Mount Tai was done in a "tourist special forces" mode, and I still hadn't recovered after two or three days of climbing.
I climbed Laojun Mountain for the second time, and this time I was well prepared, which made the experience better than the last time. I also saw the sea of clouds and a performance this time.
Next year, I want to climb more mountains, see more scenery, and experience the world.
Reading#
This year, I read 8 books, of which I finished 4. They are "Tolerance and Freedom," "Lifelong Growth," "The Details of the Rule of Law," and "What Kind of Life Do You Want to Live?"
"Lifelong Growth" left a deep impression on me. The book mentions two types of thinking: fixed mindset and growth mindset. These two different ways of thinking lead to two different lives.
But actually, everyone possesses both types. To reach a growth mindset, one must first accept and observe the fixed mindset, and then educate the fixed mindset, continuously guiding it towards a growth mindset. This means that everyone at various stages can enhance themselves based on their current foundation. There is no unchangeable way of thinking; as long as one is determined to make a change, their potential will bring a whole new world.
Gains#
The body is the capital of revolution; adjusting and maintaining good physical and mental health is the top priority.
It is important to clearly delineate the boundaries between work and life; time outside of work is crucial for personal development.
Choice is greater than effort. After this year's experiences, I understand the true meaning of this phrase. The choices made in every matter have an implicit connection, which gradually reveals itself over time, influencing the direction of life.
The first lesson for adults is to understand and accept their true selves, to have an inner dialogue, not only with themselves but also to be responsible for intimate relationships. The real self has its shortcomings; abstract individuals are perfect, but they do not exist in reality. Accepting one's true feelings and expressing one's attitude towards the uneven world is the way to protect one's own space.
I built a personal blog. From my initial exposure to blogging to now, my blog is running smoothly, and I have encountered a lot of new content and knowledge. I have also seen many excellent bloggers and formed my own knowledge system.
